Primary Care Provider

What is a Primary Care Provider?

At Natesan Medical Group, we serve as a local, family-owned group of medical providers that give access to primary care services for the surrounding community. That being said, what exactly is a primary care provider (PCP)? A primary care provider is a physician, nurse practitioner, or physician assistant that serves as your main contact and medical provider in the health care system. At Natesan Medical Group, we offer primary care internal medicine services to adult patients in our community. Primary care providers offer a wide range of services. Your PCP can help you with everything ranging from chronic conditions to acute health concerns. Some of the chronic conditions they can help treat include high blood pressure, diabetes, high cholesterol, asthma, and COPD. Some of the acute conditions your primary care provider can help treat include upper respiratory infections like sinus infections, rashes, wounds, sprains, and abdominal pain. Outside of treating acute or chronic health conditions, your primary care provider can also see you for annual/work physicals, surgery clearances, general blood work, and Medicare Wellness visits. While your primary care provider can treat many of your health concerns, sometimes you will need a referral to a specialist for surgery or further workup. Your primary care provider can facilitate this and get you sent in the right direction. This can be local referrals to TidalHealth specialists or even referrals to places like John’s Hopkins or University of Maryland. Our providers have personally received training and experience at places like Union Memorial Hospital, St. Agnes Hospital, University of Maryland, and Mercy Medical Center.
